Data We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our services:

🔑 Account Information

  • Email address (for secure authentication).
  • Password (securely hashed, never stored or transmitted in plain text).

  • Workout templates and programs you design.
  • Workout history, including sets, reps, weights, grip styles, and exercise logs.
  • Custom exercises and personal records.

📈 Body Composition (Optional)

  • Body weight, body fat percentage, and measurements you choose to log.
  • Weight phases (Cut, Bulk, Maintain, Recomp) with goals and notes.
  • Your preference for units of measurement (metric / imperial).

📸 Progress Photos (Device-Only)

  • Stored exclusively local to your device — never uploaded to our servers or cloud.
  • Removed immediately if you delete the photo entry or uninstall the app.
  • You are solely responsible for securing local device-only media.

💊 Supplements & Medications

  • Custom items you choose to track (dosage, schedule, notes, inventory).
  • Refill estimates and logs of taken/skipped doses.
  • GymBudyn does not verify or interpret any supplement or medication entries.

⚙ī¸ Preferences

  • App theme settings, notifications, and unit preferences.
  • Workout scheduling routines (weekly, rotating, or sequential) and active cycle states.

🔗 Program & Template Sharing (Optional)

If you choose to share a workout program or template:

  • Shared structures (workout names, exercise sequence, reps, schedule mapping) are stored publicly in Firebase Cloud Firestore.
  • Optional creator display names and social links you provide are made public.
  • Anyone with the unique 6-character share code can view and import the template.
  • You can revoke or delete your shared templates inside the app at any time, which permanently deletes them from our public cloud collections.

Health-Related Information

Body composition entries, progress photos, and supplement logs are health-related metrics you choose to enter. GymBudyn is a self-tracking tool only — it is not a medical device, electronic health record, or healthcare service.

Device Permissions

GymBudyn requests device permissions only when you actively use a feature that requires them. You may revoke any of these at any time in your device system settings.

  • Camera & Photo Library: Used only to capture and select progress photos that you choose to attach. We never scan or read other files or media.
  • Notifications: Used only for local reminders you opt into (workout logs, supplement schedules). All notifications are scheduled on-device; we do not send remote push notifications.

How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to:

  • Provide, maintain, and support the app's functionality.
  • Sync your workout data across devices (when authenticated).
  • Allow you to track your fitness progress over time.
  • Generate public share codes and distribute shared templates when explicitly triggered by you.
  • Send essential account-related communications (email verification, password reset).

🔒 We Respect Your Privacy

We do NOT sell, share, or monetize your personal data. Ever.

Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored securely using Firebase (Google Cloud Platform) infrastructure with industry-standard encryption.

  • Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest on our servers.
  • Passwords are hashed using secure cryptographic algorithms.
  • Access is protected by Firebase Authentication rules.
  • Local caching on your device is stored using SQLite (mobile) or browser storage (web) for offline access.

Your Rights (GDPR & Data Protection)

Under GDPR and other local data protection laws, you have the following rights which can be exercised directly inside the app:

  • Right to Access & Portability: Export all your stored data anytime in JSON format from Settings → Data Management → Export Data.
  • Right to Erasure (Right to be Forgotten): Delete your account and all associated data permanently from Settings → Account → Danger Zone → Delete Account.
  • Right to Rectification: Edit, correct, or delete individual logs, workouts, and templates at any time inside the app.

Cookies & Web Storage

When using GymBudyn on the web, we use essential cookies and local storage for:

  • Authentication (keeping you signed in).
  • Session management and local offline databases.

These are strictly necessary cookies required for the application to function. We do not use any tracking, analytics, or advertising cookies.

Third-Party Services

We rely on the following third-party infrastructure to deliver our services:

Children's Privacy

GymBudyn is not intended for use by children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you believe we have accidentally collected data from a child under 13, please contact us immediately.

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any modifications by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last Updated" date at the top.
